the JOURNAL
On these past weeks, we found ourselves in the dead of winter- in Copenhagen. Don’t even ask me why, it’s not like we are saving the springtime for more alluring cities. The goal was to breathe a little bit of modern air, to widen our world and to cheer up. Let our bones shiver a little bit from the cold, let our pupils grow greater. I don’t even need to tell you how EXCRUCIATING it is for a person like me who, forget about tights, can’t even manage to wear bobby socks. Nevertheless I also had some interesting experiences. E.g. ask me how to buy thermals in case of emergency, how to warm and calm a body before sleep, which eyeliner to use so that your make up doesn’t smudge.. And hair, don’t even get me started on hair. Thus, besides gathering immense knowledge about how to survive in FROSTY weather, that I hope to never use again, for sure I liked this city.
Alas, I did not fall in love with it.
Love, doesn’t freeze your blood at first sight. Au contraire, it causes fireworks inside of you. Or it doesn’t make you eat an entire ox –forgive the term, it doesn’t give the same meaning otherwise. Conversely it makes you more full. Your hair gets brighter, your eyes get warmer, your smile gets more lustrous. And for Copenhagen, even for the inappetent ones , those grandeur smiles and those sparkling, fluttering hairs are non existent.
However love comes and goes. It leaves its throne to an irreplaceable affection which is built over a long period of time. And this city is like that. You don’t fall in love with it at first, actually you might even go back right away, but as you harmonise with its rhythm, it gets under your skin, its simplicity and gusto evokes admiration.
P.S. When springtime comes, I’ll go back to Copenhagen and just see how fastI fall in love with it. I agree, it’s very hard to understand “THOSE” women.
