I still remember the feeling of arriving into Paris that very first time: the overwhelming sense of beauty and effortless glam. and Artsy.
Last month, we were invited to the grand opening of Matsuhisa Paris at Le Royal Monceau-Raffles Paris and I can’t tell you enough how much I love this place. Upon arrival, we didn’t enter a lobby area where an ordinary desk stops your journey to greet you with some paper work after 5 hour-something flight while you are dreaming a bathtub filled with hot water. Instead, we walked into someone’s living room full of art, history and inspiration. Library on the left ( yes, they have a bookstore ), coffee with some danish pastries or some delicious cocktails on the right, if you walk a bit forward, here you are in the Art District ( give the art concierge a round of applause) and If you intend to visit ladies room, you might wonder old -old- chandeliers by the stairs off the lounge, they are collections from the Royal Monceau. And, and A Cinema-No, not kidding!
I haven’t mentioned the only Italian Michelin-starred restaurant in Paris; Il Carpacio, La Cuisine for a perfect breakfast and newly opened Matsuhisa restaurant, which brought internationally celebrated chef Nobu Matsuhisa’s legendary dishes to your table. Serving up Nobu’s renowned style of Peruvian-Japanese cuisine, the menu offers signature dishes such as Black Cod with Miso and Albacore Tuna Sashimi with Jalapeño Peppers yet.
Last but not least, our room (not so small but not so big) was a spacious, modern affair, with floor to ceiling French windows that one could open out to take in the morning (or sunset) air. Artsy furnitures, leather furnishings, art pieces and mirror walls were GORGEOUS (meaning designed by Philippe Starck) – and you saw that bathroom on instagram -entirely tiled in mirrors for the millions of selfies.
What a girl can ask more than this?
Special Thanks
